Davante Adams‘ All-Pro season showed to the league why he’s one of the best wide receivers in the game.

For Green Bay Packers fans, it came as no surprise as he had been putting in incredible performances year after year.

The Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams combination is the best in the league and they are particularly unstoppable in the red zone. But make no mistake, this is nothing new. Adams’ red zone numbers have been outstanding for years.

How about this stat? According to Pro Football Focus, since 2016, no player has caught more receiving touchdowns than Adams. He has 46.

When the Packers get down near the goal line, the ball will often be heading in Davante Adams’ direction. Opposing teams know this. They just can’t do much to stop it. Just ask Jalen Ramsey.

Adams’ touchdown numbers have been off the charts since his breakout season in 2016, not just in the red zone.

Adams has caught double-digit touchdown passes in four of the past five seasons. Since 2016, Adams has found the end zone an incredible 58 times. That’s 58 touchdown catches in his past 71 regular season games.

No matter what additions the Packers make on either side of the ball this offseason, one thing that will again be key to the team’s success and chances of making the Super Bowl will be Adams’ connection with Rodgers. When these two are on the same page, there isn’t much defenses can do to stop it.

That said, you could certainly make a strong case for the Packers doing everything possible to add another game-changing receiver. When defenses try to take away Adams, which is often the case with double-coverage, imagine having another top receiver opposite.

When defenses focused on stopping Adams, players such as Robert Tonyan, Allen Lazard, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling regularly made defenses pay in one-on-one situations.

Imagine, if the Packers could make it work on the cap, if they added another top wide receiver like Allen Robinson, Chris Godwin, or Will Fuller in free agency. Unlikely to happen? Sure. But it’s fun to think about the different possibilities.

What we do know is that Davante Adams is one of the game’s top receivers and continues to prove it every year, particularly down in the red zone.
