Packers 2021 free agency predictions: Who stays, who goes?
The most interesting few weeks of the NFL offseason are here. The new league year begins on March 17, leaving the Green Bay Packers with some big decisions to make.
The impact of the pandemic will also further complicate things for every team, especially the ones trying to get under the salary cap, like the Packers. We’ve already seen veteran players like Kyle Rudolph and Kyle Van Noy get released to save cap space. The Packers did the same by moving on from Rick Wagner and Christian Kirksey.
More of this should be expected across the league as free agency nears.
The Packers also have to decide which of their pending free agents to bring back. Who will be re-signed and who will be playing elsewhere in 2021? Here are my predictions.
Jamaal Williams: Walks
Will there be a team willing to pay Jamaal Williams to be their starting running back? It shouldn’t be ruled out.
Williams is a three-down back who can catch passes and be trusted to block. This would make him a valuable addition to any offense around the league.
Limited cap space means the Packers will struggle to re-sign most of their free agents and will have to move on from a few players they’d love to have back. One of them could be Williams.
Spoiler: I predict Aaron Jones to return. And after drafting AJ Dillon in the second round last year, it means Williams is the odd one out.
