Packers: Top 5 most entertaining games from 2020 season
#3 – Packers vs. Eagles (Week 13)
This game felt really special. We all knew coming in that Aaron Rodgers stood three touchdowns away from the 400 career TD mark. And we all kinda knew he was going to get the job done before the game started. This game felt like a celebration.
The first TD, a spectacular play by Davante Adams on a fourth-and-goal fade over Darius Slay capped off an 88-yard drive. Adams was utterly sensational in this game. After another second quarter TD, this time to Robert Tonyan, the Packers stood in complete control of the game, and Aaron Rodgers’ career landmark was well within reach.
The 400th TD came, and it was as close to perfect as you can get. A 99-yard drive down the field, finished off by who else but Davante Adams. The celebration that followed should be framed in museums as one of the defining moments of Aaron Rodgers’ career, as Adams gets down on his knees, and offers up the ball to the man who just made history, becoming the first QB to ever throw for 400 touchdowns while having less than 100 interceptions.
However, the Eagles weren’t going to go away quietly. After the benching of Carson Wentz, we got our first glimpse of rookie QB Jalen Hurts in the NFL, and he didn’t disappoint. On fourth-and-18, Hurts found Greg Ward in the end zone, cutting the lead to two scores.
This was followed by a hasty three-and-out by the Packers offense, and to make matters worse, rookie WR Jalen Reagor returned the ensuing punt to the house. When the Packers offense stalled out once again, the alarm bells started ringing.
Luckily Green Bay’s defense steadied the ship, and we were all sent home happy with a picture-perfect 77-yard rushing TD from Aaron Jones, one of the best team effort plays you’ll see, as seemingly every Packer on the field hustled alongside Jones to create a path to the end zone.
