Imagine a world where the Green Bay Packers have created enough salary cap room not just to get under the cap, but also to make a move or two in free agency.

There’s a good chance this will become a reality in a couple of weeks. While the Packers are unlikely to be big spenders in free agency, they could still be active and make a signing or two. It’s what they should aim to do to help this team build on their recent success.

But which free agents should they consider signing? Let’s look at five names to watch.

5. Curtis Samuel, WR

With yards-after-catch ability and a player who can add versatility on offense, Curtis Samuel would be a great fit in Green Bay.

The former second-round pick had a number of roles in the Panthers’ offense this past season, catching 77 passes for 851 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing 41 times for 200 yards and two scores.

Drops were an issue for Packers wide receivers in 2020, but that isn’t a problem for Samuel. According to Pro Football Focus, Samuel had the league’s best catch rate this season among receivers with at least 70 targets.

Given all the ways Matt LaFleur could use Samuel, he could be an explosive addition to the No. 1 scoring offense.
