The Green Bay Packers have to sign a cornerback at some point, right? They surely can’t rely on a rookie to start in Week 1 and be the answer to the team’s problem at the position.

Don’t say it. Don’t say it…

They’re going to re-sign Kevin King, aren’t they? Oops.

Let’s assume here that they don’t, or if they do, they’re also interested in signing another free-agent corner. Who could they target?

Best remaining cornerbacks in free agency

Adoree’ Jackson

Adoree’ Jackson might be the best cornerback available and he’s still only 25 years old. There’s a lot to like about the possibility of Jackson starting opposite Jaire Alexander in the coming seasons.

At this stage, there hasn’t been any reported interest by the Packers but that doesn’t mean they won’t be interested. They’re pretty good at keeping these things quiet.

But Jackson could receive interest elsewhere and the Packers might not be in any position to match other offers. Still, the former first-round pick would be a great signing.

Richard Sherman

If the Packers want to sign a veteran corner who could be more affordable, how about five-time Pro Bowler Richard Sherman? There’s certainly some risk here as Sherman is about to turn 33 and missed a lot of time to injury last season.

But he was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro only two years ago and has been one of the best cornerbacks in the league for many years. A Sherman-Alexander combination could be a great one.

Brian Poole

While they did bring back Chandon Sullivan, the Packers could look for an upgrade in the slot. According to Pro Football Reference, Brian Poole allowed a passer rating of just 61.6 last year. He’s also made six interceptions in the past three seasons, one he returned for a touchdown.

Poole might not fix the issue at outside corner but he could give Green Bay an upgrade in the slot.
