Another former Packer who has been part of the Chiefs’ recent success is cornerback Bashaud Breeland.

Breeland was a great in-season addition to a Packers team in need of cornerback help in 2018. Breeland played in seven games for Green Bay that season, making four pass defenses and two interceptions, one he returned for a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons.

It was somewhat surprising when the Packers didn’t re-sign him that offseason, with Breeland instead signing with the Chiefs. He has been a key player in their secondary ever since, featuring in 27 regular season games, making 17 pass defenses and four interceptions.

He made the crucial interception in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory we discussed earlier, which came after pressure from Mike Pennel.

Breeland has spent time with the Washington Football Team, Packers, and Chiefs. Last season, he started 11 games for Kansas City, helping the team return to the Super Bowl for the second straight year.

A free agent and still only 29 years old, Breeland is underrated and could help a number of teams around the NFL. That includes the Packers, who still need help at cornerback despite re-signing Kevin King to a one-year deal.

Maybe the Packers can bring back Breeland and Pennel, who could both help at areas of need on defense.
