Packers are very thin on the defensive line

Need #2: Interior defensive line

This one is cheating a little bit because it’s not one position but the Packers need to do something about their interior line. Kenny Clark is one of the best nose tackles in the league but at some point, you have to take some pressure off of him.

Everything that I said about the linebackers can also be applied here when talking about rush defense. The Packers flat out can’t stop the run at a consistent level and the front three is a big reason why.

Many, myself included, were pretty surprised when the team decided to bring back Dean Lowry and Tyler Lancaster. Both fine players in their own right but entirely replaceable, Lowry in particular given his contract.

No question about it, the prize is Christian Barmore when it comes to the interior. If he’s there at 29 I would be all over that selection if I was Green Bay. Barmore looks very pro-ready and NFL.com not only has him as their highest-graded DL but also 12th overall.

It’s a thin class on the inside this year but if Green Bay were able to land Barmore, that would be a steal and would fill a much-needed hole on defense.

Players to watch:

  • Christian Barmore
  • Levi Onwuzurike
  • Milton Williams
