Round 3 (92): Osa Odighizuwa, DT, UCLA

Strengthening the defense remains the priority into the third round. After getting some help for the secondary and at inside linebacker, the attention turns to finding a partner for Kenny Clark along the defensive line.

The Packers need to give more attention to the defensive line. A huge reason why this defense has been inconsistent in recent years and struggled big-time against the run is the issues up front. So far this offseason, Green Bay has kept Dean Lowry and re-signed Tyler Lancaster. That’s fine, but the problem is far from solved along the defensive line.

With the 92nd overall pick, the Packers would be getting one of the best defensive tackles in this year’s class. NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks ranked Osa Odighizuwa fourth among all defensive tackles in the draft this year. He has a wrestling background and was a three-time state champion, according to the official UCLA Bruins website.

Odighizuwa has impressed as a pass rusher at UCLA. Over the past three seasons, he’s made 10.5 sacks. He also has 22 tackles for loss in that time. Odighizuwa could compete for snaps right away in the Packers’ defense and provide some much-needed help for Kenny Clark along the defensive line.

In the opening three rounds, Green Bay goes a long way to improving its defense.
