1. Focus on defense early and often

The offense was phenomenal in 2020, leading the NFL in scoring. Aaron Rodgers, David Bakhtiari, and Davante Adams were all first-team All-Pros. All three were also Pro Bowlers, along with Elgton Jenkins and Aaron Jones.

Even so, there’s certainly some room for improvement on offense. Finding a slot receiver who adds yards after the catch is an example of that.

But under new defensive coordinator Joe Barry, this defense needs to take a step forward. The unit ranked ninth overall in 2020 and has star players such as Jaire Alexander, Za’Darius Smith, and Kenny Clark to build around. But there are too many holes on defense that have given the Packers problems in recent years.

Cornerback is the main concern, outside of Alexander. Inside linebacker is also an area they should improve. And as we’ve all been saying for what feels like a lifetime, get some help for Kenny Clark at defensive tackle. You can also argue adding more depth at safety and edge rusher shouldn’t be ignored.

It won’t be possible to fill every need in one draft class. But the Packers should target talented defenders early and often. Whether a defensive tackle, inside linebacker, safety, cornerback, or edge rusher. If there’s a potential game-changing talent available on defense, he’s worth drafting.

If the Packers can take a step forward defensively in this draft class, it’ll be a huge win.
