Ever since the Green Bay Packers traded up for Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers’ future has been uncertain.

Despite general manager Brian Gutekunst consistently making it clear Rodgers isn’t going anywhere, it appears Rodgers has other ideas.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers has “told some within the organization that he does not want to return” to the Packers. Schefter added that head coach Matt LaFleur, Gutekunst, and team president Mark Murphy have all flown out at different times to speak to Rodgers.

Schefter also added that the team has offered to extend Rodgers’ contract.

This comes following a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero earlier today that the San Francisco 49ers had “reached out” to the Packers over the possibility of a Rodgers trade, to which Green Bay said no.

Well, it’s fair to say this is a mess.

The Packers seem set that they are not trading Rodgers. But Rodgers reportedly doesn’t want to return. Something has to give.

Will Rodgers put his feelings aside if he’s not traded and put in another MVP-level season? Will the team eventually give in and trade him away?

Unfortunately, the dream of Rodgers playing his entire career in Green Bay and winning multiple Super Bowls appears to be becoming less and less likely. And in Rodgers’ defense, it doesn’t help when your team trades up for your replacement in the first round instead of adding a wide receiver or defensive player who could’ve made an immediate impact.

While the speculation will now all be about draft night and whether the Packers will trade Rodgers, so far, the team has reportedly been unwilling to even entertain the idea. Why would that suddenly change during the draft?

Where does this go from here? Who knows? But this has sure become a mess for the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.
