With Corey Linsley gone, the Green Bay Packers have drafted his replacement in the second round. At 62nd overall, the Packers have selected Ohio State center Josh Myers.

There’s been a lot of talk over the offseason about whether Elgton Jenkins or Lucas Patrick would move to guard. Well this potentially solves that problem. Assuming Myers starts early on at center, Patrick can remain at guard and Jenkins can either stay at guard or shift to tackle.

And Myers, too, could play at guard, so the Packers have more options along the offensive line. Replacing Linsley won’t be easy, but they have found a talented center in the draft.

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network wrote that “Myers could be a longtime starter in the NFL in the proper system”. In Green Bay, he gets to join an offensive line with All-Pro David Bakhtiari, Pro Bowler Jenkins, and a ton of talent across the line.

It’s been quite the week so far for the Packers. Before the draft even got underway, the focus was on Aaron Rodgers’ future. That conversation is far from over, but at least we can now also discuss how the Packers are building their roster in the draft.

It started on Thursday night in the first round with Green Bay selecting Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes. Stokes adds speed to the secondary and he’s a great athlete. It will be exciting to see what kind of impact he can make in a new-look defense led by Joe Barry.

Green Bay’s previous two second-round picks under GM Brian Gutekunst were running back AJ Dillon and guard Elgton Jenkins. Dillon could be a breakout player in 2021 while Jenkins was voted to the Pro Bowl last year. Let’s hope Gutekunst has got it right again in the second round this year.

What do you think about the Packers’ first pick of Day 2?
