The Green Bay Packers made their first selection late Thursday night and as usual, it was met with controversy. At pick 29 the Packers went CB Eric Stokes out of Georgia which some may consider a reach.

They chose Stokes over some other notable prospects such as Christian Barmore, Elijah Moore, and Jerimiah Owusu-Koramoah. Passing on Barmore and Owusu-Koramoah in particular, was a bit of a shock for me. I would’ve all but guaranteed one of those two would be selected but here we are.

Overall, I like the talent that Stokes has to offer and we shouldn’t be too surprised at this selection because we all know Brian Gutekunst loves his athletic corners. However, we must now move our focus to day two and the Packers are in a good position to add a skill player on offense.

There is still some great talent left on the board and certainly some great value if they decide to address the WR room tonight. So let’s look at some guys who can make an impact from this year’s draft.

Amari Rodgers would be a great addition to Packers offense

Wide receiver #1: Amari Rodgers

Amari Rodgers may not be the biggest WR in the world but he makes up for it with his ball skills. Rodgers stands at only 5-foot-9 but possesses a thick frame weighing in at 212. Rodgers has been mocked to go anywhere between the second and third round.

The Packers could get some nice value at a premium position without having to trade up which is always a great thing. Rodgers became the top WR of a dangerous Clemson offense, catching 77 balls and going over 1,000 yards his senior year.
