While the future of Aaron Rodgers remains uncertain and that’s a huge concern for the Green Bay Packers, overall, their roster is one of the best in the league.

When putting together a ranking of their biggest needs, only a few positions such as inside linebacker and defensive tackle stick out.

In my post-draft rankings, I had safety third and edge rusher fifth, which says it all. The Packers have great starters at both positions, and the only potential concern is depth behind them. That shows how good the roster is.

ESPN’s Mike Clay has graded every roster in the league following the 2021 NFL Draft, and he has the Packers third in the league. Only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns and ranked higher. Clay has Green Bay’s offense ranked fourth in the NFL and the defense eighth.

Of course, if Rodgers leaves, their QB grade would be significantly reduced.

But for a moment, let’s assume Rodgers is back, and it’s fair to say the majority of the Packers’ starters are in place.

You could argue a couple of offensive line positions and cornerback aren’t locked in, but that’s due to good depth at both spots more than anything.

With such a talented roster, it’s also fair to say Rodgers’ best chance at another Super Bowl is in Green Bay.

For example, Clay has the Denver Broncos’ roster ranked 15th. They do have the top-ranked defense but are 29th in offense. Rodgers joining them would move them up significantly, of course, but as high as the Packers?

Denver might have a deeper receiver group, but Green Bay has the best overall receiver in Davante Adams. The Packers have a better rushing attack and stronger offensive line, and tight end is close.

The drop-off is even greater with the Las Vegas Raiders. Clay gives Las Vegas the 30th-ranked defense in the league. Their offense is 15th with a strong run game and elite tight end, but the Packers have a significant advantage at wide receiver and offensive line.

Whether it’s Rodgers or Jordan Love starting under center for Green Bay in 2021, there’s no doubt the Packers’ roster is one of the league’s best.
