Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love

Until either Rodgers signs a contract extension or is traded away, this will be the focus for the Packers. In the end, I’m predicting that Rodgers will return on a new deal and will remain QB1.

The wait for the Jordan Love era goes on. If Rodgers signs a multi-year extension, we have to wonder whether he’ll ever get his opportunity to become the new starting quarterback in Green Bay or whether his future will be elsewhere.

That’s the decision the team needs to make. Do they stand firm and risk losing Rodgers if he retires, or just decide to trade him for as much as they can get? On the other side, they commit to Rodgers but likely have to move on from Love at some point, either via a trade or when his contract expires in three years. They could end up developing Love to go and start elsewhere.

I’m just glad I’m not making any of these big decisions in Green Bay.

My guess in May, four months away from the regular season, is that the Packers will work out a contract extension with Rodgers and commit to him for the future. Love remains the backup and the team rolls with two quarterbacks in 2021.
