Packers: Four must-see games on 2021 regular-season schedule
3. Packers vs. Rams (Week 12)
We’ve seen plenty of classic Packers-Seahawks games in recent years, but January’s divisional-round showdown between the Packers and Los Angeles Rams felt like the beginning of a new NFC rivalry.
Two great, young, offensive-minded coaches in Matt LaFleur and Sean McVay, who are good friends and have worked together in the past. Two teams filled with All-Pros and talented players on either side of the football.
Green Bay won the first meeting of LaFleur versus McVay, but we get to see another chapter of this story in 2021, again at Lambeau Field.
The Rams have strengthened in the offseason, most notably trading for quarterback Matthew Stafford. This adds another layer to the story as Stafford has plenty of history against the Packers during his time with the division-rival Detroit Lions.
According to Pro Football Reference, Stafford has played the Packers 20 times, throwing for 5,674 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. The Lions went 7-13 in those games. But Stafford is now part of the best roster of his NFL career and has a great coach in McVay. Stafford can be the missing piece for the Rams to become a dominant team in the NFC West.
There are so many storylines in this matchup. Playoff rematch. LaFleur vs. McVay II. Stafford returns to Lambeau. It’s going to be a fun game.
