FanSided predicts Packers will make Super Bowl in 2021
With all of the off-the-field concerns with the Green Bay Packers right now and whether Aaron Rodgers will ever play for this team again, it’s easy to forget just how good they can be if Rodgers does indeed return.
The Packers’ roster is loaded with talent, evident by the team’s back-to-back NFC Championship Game appearances under head coach Matt LaFleur. They’ve taken steps to address their biggest needs this spring and could have another strong season, so long as Rodgers is under center.
When the NFL schedule comes out each year, one of my favorite articles to read is by FanSided’s Matt Verderame, as he predicts every game across the NFL for the entire season. And that includes the playoffs.
With Rodgers, Verderame expects another great year for Green Bay. After going 13-3 in each of the past two seasons, Verderame predicts a 13-4 record for the Packers in the new 17-game format, good for the top seed in the NFC once again. That includes an impressive road win over the Kansas City Chiefs. For the second year running, the NFC goes through Lambeau Field.
Except this time, they make it to the Super Bowl, eliminating the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams to get there.
It would be fitting for it to fall that way. In LaFleur’s first two seasons, the Packers have two playoff wins. Both are at Lambeau Field, and they came against the Seahawks and Rams. I’d love the symmetry here.
Unfortunately, despite ending their decade-long Super Bowl drought, the Packers are beaten in a thrilling contest, losing 38-35 to the Chiefs.
It would be incredibly disappointing to fall so short of the ultimate prize, but there’s no shame in losing to a great Chiefs team in such a close game.
And let’s be honest. Considering how things are with the Packers today, imagining Rodgers returning and leading the team to the Super Bowl would exceed just about anyone’s expectations. Sign me up for another great season from Rodgers and the Pack.
