Packers: Three players on notice after the 2021 NFL Draft
By Cody Young
Packers may have found their new slot cornerback
Player #2: Chandon Sullivan
Chandon Sullivan was someone who many expected to take a step in 2020. Overall, I’d label Sullivan’s 2020 as a bit of a mixed bag that leans a little more negative. His highlight of the year was of course the pick-six in week two against the Detroit Lions.
The Packers used a fifth-round selection on CB Shemar Jean-Charles who may not play right away but could be the next man up. Jean-Charles, who despite playing for an FBS school, put out some great tape and made first-team All-Sun Belt Conference.
Jean-Charles lacks the size to be an outside corner at the pro level but his skillset may translate well to playing on the inside. Obviously, Sullivan is the starting nickel corner as of right now but Jean-Charles may very well fight for that spot at some point this season.
Sullivan is still quite young and I think is capable of being a quality CB in this league but at this point, his days could be numbered in Green Bay. His contract is up at the end of 2021 and I won’t be surprised if Jean-Charles has surpassed him before the end of the upcoming season. Time will tell but this is one of the more interesting camp battles to keep an eye on as well.
