Packers trade with Eagles

There are a couple of things working against this trade idea. One is that the Packers would be trading Rodgers to another NFC team. That’s no good. Also, the Packers wouldn’t be receiving a QB in return, although perhaps the Philadelphia Eagles would be open to including Jalen Hurts in the deal.

But there are reasons why this trade would make sense for the Packers.

For starters, the Eagles have three first-round picks in 2022. Their own original pick along with selections from the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins. In this trade, I have Green Bay receiving two of those 2022 first-rounders along with a 2023 first-rounder and also a second-rounder the same year.

And to make it an even better deal for the Packers, they land another first-round talent with wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who was selected 10th overall in this year’s draft.

The Packers would be able to build around Jordan Love. He’d have Davante Adams and Smith as his top two receiving options, along with Amari Rodgers, Allen Lazard, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling at wide receiver, and Robert Tonyan at tight end.

The Packers would then have three first-round picks next year and two in 2022.

It’s a lot for the Eagles to give up but, again, we’re talking about the NFL MVP. The Packers aren’t trading him away unless they get a lot in return.
