Packers trade with Broncos

Of all the potential trade partners, the Denver Broncos make the most sense. They have a talented roster and just need a quarterback to compete with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. The Broncos went all-in with Peyton Manning, winning a Super Bowl in 2015, and they could look to replicate that with Rodgers.

The Broncos are in the AFC, which is ideal. And in this trade scenario, the Packers would be setting themselves up well for the future.

Don’t forget that the Packers had Drew Lock in for a visit before the 2019 NFL Draft. The Broncos then traded up to get him in the second round, moving up to a couple of spots ahead of the Packers.

In this trade scenario, the Packers get Lock to develop and potentially start in 2021. They also receive three first-round picks and a second-rounder next year. And to make this trade difficult to turn down, the Broncos also include edge rusher Bradley Chubb, a player Green Bay could build around on defense.

Chubb is still only 24 years old and under contract two more years, including his fifth-year option. A Pro Bowler in 2020, Chubb is a rising star and has made 20.5 sacks and 46 quarterback hits in 34 regular-season games in his first three years with the Broncos.

For the Broncos to go all-in and get Rodgers, they’d need to send a lot back to the Packers. In this trade scenario, Green Bay would have the building blocks for the future with multiple first-round picks over three years, a young star defensive player, and another young quarterback to develop.
