We often talk about the signings of Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith two years ago, but the Green Bay Packers also hit a home run when they brought in Adrian Amos.

Amos isn’t often included in the conversation of best safeties in football, but he certainly should be for his great work in Green Bay’s secondary over the past two seasons.

Maybe 2021 is the year everyone begins to realize just what a great player Amos is.

2020 stats

Amos started in all 16 games last season, making 83 tackles, nine pass defenses, two interceptions, and two sacks.

2020 review

At what point is Amos going to get the respect he deserves? Since arriving in Green Bay, Amos has started every single game and shows up every week and delivers. Very rarely does Amos make a big mistake in a game, and he’s also ended the talk of him not coming up with any key plays; Amos has four interceptions in two seasons.

He’s also very good in coverage. According to Pro Football Focus, he was their highest-graded safety in coverage last season.

Yet again, Amos was one of the unsung heroes on defense for the Packers.

Will he make the roster?

Yes, and he’ll be a key starter every week at safety.

What to expect in 2021

Expect more of the same. Amos starting every game and playing well every week. Teammate Darnell Savage could have a breakout third season in Green Bay, and the two together make up one of the best safety partnerships in the league.

Now entering their third season together, they will have even greater familiarity playing next to each other, and that will help as they transition to a new system under Joe Barry having spent the past two seasons in Mike Pettine’s defense.

Amos is underrated, but he’s a dependable player in the secondary and makes this entire defense better.
