Marquez Valdes-Scantling made some huge plays for the Green Bay Packers‘ offense last season but was a frustrating player in fantasy football lineups.

Will we see more consistency from MVS this season, and where should he be drafted in fantasy?

Also, does the addition of Amari Rodgers and Devin Funchess for the Packers help or hurt Valdes-Scantling’s fantasy football potential in 2021?

How Valdes-Scantling finished in 2020

If you played MVS the right weeks, you likely won your matchup. If you put him in your lineup on the wrong weeks, you likely lost. Valdes-Scantling was a frustrating player in fantasy football last season.

According to Fantasy Pros, he had five performances with 16 or more fantasy points in half PPR, with a season-high of 22.9 points against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But he failed to hit more than five fantasy points in eight different contests. In one game, he had minus-0.4 points.

Due to his unpredictable numbers each week, it was hard to start MVS throughout the season.

What to expect in 2021

Unfortunately, that unpredictability is likely to continue into 2021. With his ability to make huge plays downfield, MVS will always be just one catch away from putting up a good fantasy score. In some weeks he could have two big touchdown catches and win you a matchup.

But for all the great weeks, he’ll give you a weekly headache of deciding whether to start him.

With Amari Rodgers being drafted in the third round, plus the other targets in the Packers’ offense like Devin Funchess, Allen Lazard, and of course Davante Adams, it won’t be easy deciding when to start MVS.

Fantasy draft

Unsurprisingly, MVS isn’t going early in fantasy drafts. According to Fantasy Football Calculator, Valdes-Scantling is the 75th wide receiver coming off the board and being selected in the 14th round.

That late on, he could be worth picking up. The upside is there but, as mentioned above, when would you know which weeks to put him in your lineup?
