Cornerbacks (6)

Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Eric Stokes, Chandon Sullivan, Shemar Jean-Charles, Kabion Ento

An All-Pro last season, Alexander is top three and he’s not three. He has his own island. Back on a prove-it deal, King is a nice insurance policy and adds depth with organizational familiarity.

Freak athlete probably doesn’t do Stokes justice. I expect the Packers to bring him along slowly, but don’t be surprised when he unseats King later in the year and starts on the boundary.

A decent but unspectacular slot corner, Sullivan is more than a JAG but this is a position the Packers would definitely like more from. Teams did their best to try to exploit him given the opportunity.

Jean-Charles is an intriguing fifth-round selection from this past year’s draft. It’s safe to assume he was handpicked to play the slot moving forward. He lacks the athleticism you’d ideally want from a corner, but more than makes up for it with his ball skills.

Ento is a first-team gunner on special teams. He made the initial 53 a year ago, and now that he’s healthy I expect him to be one of the last players to lay claim to a roster spot. Usually those are earned due to special teams play where Ento already has a leg up.

Safeties (5)

Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Will Redmond, Vernon Scott, Christian Uphoff

Amos is rock solid and always where he needs to be. It’s hard to ask for someone more reliable than Amos.

Savage is a former first-round pick and has great athleticism and versatility for the position. He shows flashes of being great, the team just needs him to put it all together in Year 3. If he does they could have a star on their hands.

The third safety is a spot most fans, myself included would like to see upgraded. Redmond is a good special teamer, but probably not someone you want playing significant snaps on defense. I do think his spot on the roster is pretty safe.

A rookie just a year ago, Scott has been decent on special teams and offers versatility at the position. His development will be interesting to follow in Year 2. I think the third safety spot could be had if he shows improvement.

Uphoff is an UDFA that I have here purely as a projection. He had to sit out 2020 due to his conference not playing. If he was able to get his senior year tape out there I think he would have been drafted. He’s a small school player and his limited experience may not bode well, but his Junior year tape suggests there is some talent there.

Specialists (3)

Mason Crosby (Kicker), JK Scott (Punter), Hunter Bradley (Long snapper)

Crosby might be overpaid for the position, but it’s hard to argue with his consistency. Crosby gets the job done.

Scott has a big leg (until it gets cold). He has severely underperformed his draft capital. I think it’s safe to say the team would prefer an upgrade.

As long as he’s not making mistakes, there is no reason for anyone to have gripes about Bradley. Long snappers come available after cut-downs all the time. The Packers will put out the best option they have available to them.
