New England Patriots

The New England Patriots enjoyed huge success during the Tom Brady era, winning six Super Bowls. They’re now looking to the future at quarterback, and drafting Mac Jones 15th overall is part of that. Maybe the Jones pick rules out a possible trade for Rodgers, but also maybe not.

Imagine going from Brady to Rodgers. It would give the Patriots another opportunity to chase Super Bowl titles with one of the best quarterbacks in history.

For the Packers, a potential deal with the Patriots would also make some sense.

For starters, the Patriots play in the AFC. That means the Packers wouldn’t have to worry about playing against Rodgers in the playoffs unless it was in the Super Bowl. It would also mean regular-season meetings would be rare, with perhaps the only one coming when the two teams meet in 2022.

In a potential deal, the Packers could likely ask for future first-round picks and perhaps a young player or two. Could the Patriots actually consider including Mac Jones in a deal? If they did, the Packers would have two first-round quarterbacks on the roster, increasing their chances of landing a long-term starter.

The biggest positive of this move would be the fact New England plays in the AFC.
