5 Packers players set to turn heads at 2021 training camp
2. Amari Rodgers
There aren’t many players on the Packers’ roster I’m more excited about than rookie wide receiver Amari Rodgers. The third-round pick will be involved on offense this season, it’s just a question of how often he’s on the field. If Rodgers can make a fast start by impressing at training camp and in the preseason, he could land a featured role early in the year.
The Packers needed a receiver with the ability to pick up yards after the catch. Rodgers is a master of that, and this skill set should earn him plenty of opportunities in LaFleur’s offense, mostly in the slot.
Green Bay’s return game has also been painful to watch in recent years, and it’s another area Rodgers can help this team.
Rodgers has already thrown his name into the hat for punt returns having regularly done so at Clemson. It will come as no surprise if Rodgers is both returning punts and catching passes in the season-opener against the New Orleans Saints.
Rodgers gives the Packers something on offense they lacked, and he can also help out on special teams. Rodgers can quickly become one of the Packers’ top performers at training camp and give the fans plenty of reasons to be excited about his future.
