With the Green Bay Packers beginning their training camp in a couple of weeks, there will be a number of interesting positional battles to watch closely.

As we see every year, there will be surprises along the way. Players who perform well and make the roster when they weren’t expected to. It works the other way too as there are often surprise cuts.

And with only 53 spots on the initial roster at the end of camp, there are players who enter the summer facing an uphill battle.

Today, we’ll look at four Packers players who face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster.

A sixth-round pick a year ago, Jake Hanson needs to show big improvements on last season to have a shot at making the 53-man roster.

The Packers have great depth at guard and center with a number of players who are able to line up at multiple positions. That’s not the case for Hanson, who will need to show what he can do at center to have any shot of making the 53.

With the Packers drafting three offensive linemen this year, including center Josh Myers in the second round, Hanson has work to do to throw his name into the hat and secure a spot on the 53-man roster.
