Packers: 3 pleasant surprises from first week of training camp
Green Bay Packers training camp is well underway and it’s been an interesting opening week.
After a long offseason, training camp is always an exciting time as the Packers prepare for the start of the regular season. There are always standout performers, surprises, and players who disappoint over the summer. It’s during these weeks that will determine which players earn a spot on the team’s initial 53-man roster, as well as decisions on the depth chart.
There are many interesting training-camp positional battles for the Packers this summer, including at wide receiver, along the offensive line, inside linebacker, cornerback, and safety. The Packers have good depth at many of those positions and it will lead to some difficult decisions for general manager Brian Gutekunst and the coaching staff.
There’s still a long way to go between now and Week 1 and much can change. We haven’t even got to the preseason yet; there will be three preseason games this summer.
