Packers: 5 players who are shining at training camp
Kabion Ento
One of the biggest training-camp competitions is at cornerback. On the outside, Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, and Eric Stokes are the top three. Behind them is where there is some uncertainty.
Kabion Ento is going a long way to ending some of that uncertainty and securing his spot on the Packers’ 53-man roster. Ento is enjoying an impressive summer on the practice field, and he put in an excellent performance in Green Bay’s preseason opener last weekend.
Ento saw extended playing time against the Houston Texans and made the most of his opportunity. He finished the game with one interception and one pass defense, and he earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade of any Packers defensive player.
He’s continued to impress this week on the practice field, including against the New York Jets’ starting offense. Cheesehead TV’s Andy Herman made a prediction on Twitter that “Ento is making the team”. It’s hard to disagree.
If Ento can build on his excellent week in the Packers’ second preseason game, he could put some distance between himself and the other cornerbacks competing for a roster spot.
Ento has been a standout performer this summer and could land a spot as a backup in Joe Barry’s defense this season.
