The Green Bay Packers were dominant in the red zone last season. Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams were the main reason why.

According to TeamRankings.com, the Packers were the most efficient offense in the red zone last season, scoring a touchdown on 76.81 percent of their trips inside the 20.

If it felt like Rodgers fired Adams’ way with regularity down in the red zone, it’s because he did. And to great effect.

Former Pro Bowl wide receiver and NFL.com analyst Steve Smith Sr. has ranked the top 10 red-zone threats in the league entering the 2021 season. That includes quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.

Rodgers is at No. 1, Adams at No. 2. The fact the league’s top-two red-zone threats play in the same offense shows just how dominant the Packers are when they get near the goal line.

Packers have incredible numbers in red zone

The numbers back it up.

According to Pro Football Reference, Rodgers threw for 344 yards and 35 touchdowns with zero interceptions in the red zone last year. No QB completed more passes, had more passing yards, or TD passes than Rodgers.

Rodgers was on the money far more often than not in the red zone, and he was helped with an All-Pro wide receiver who knows a thing or two about finding the end zone.

Adams was the league’s best receiver in the red zone in 2020 with 23 catches for 135 yards and 14 touchdowns. No player had more receptions, receiving yards, or receiving TDs in the red zone than Adams.

And that’s just the regular season. Don’t forget that Rodgers found Adams in the red zone again in the divisional-round victory over the Los Angeles Rams, with Adams up against All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

The Rodgers-Adams connection was unplayable last season. When the two were in the red zone, it was game over for opposing defenses.
