Packers 53-man roster predictions after second preseason game
Cornerbacks (6)
Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Eric Stokes, Chandon Sullivan, Shemar Jean-Charles, Kabion Ento
Assuming the Packers keep six cornerbacks on the 53-man roster, it feels like they’re set.
Jaire Alexander will start with either Kevin King or Eric Stokes on the outside most often, with Chandon Sullivan and Shemar Jean-Charles able to line up in the slot. Safety Darnell Savage can also play snaps in the slot. The sixth spot goes to Kabion Ento, who has been impressive throughout the summer.
That means Ka’dar Hollman and Isaac Yiadom, who the Packers traded for last week, both miss out on the 53-man roster.
Safeties (4)
Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Vernon Scott, Henry Black
For now, I only have the Packers keeping four safeties on the roster, but it will come as no surprise if they go with five. That will be important if the plan is for Savage to spend more time in the slot this season.
Adrian Amos and Savage are the starters at safety, and they make up one of the best duos in the league.
Henry Black has been impressive this summer and deserves a spot on the roster. In last week’s preseason game, he was Pro Football Focus’ second-highest graded defensive player for the Packers, and he was also the team’s highest-graded player on special teams.
If the Packers keep a fifth safety, Innis Gaines would be my choice ahead of Will Redmond.
