The Green Bay Packers are reportedly trading cornerback Ka’dar Hollman to the Houston Texans.

The Green Bay Packers‘ cornerback depth chart continues to take shape.

After trading Josh Jackson to the New York Giants for Isaac Yiadom last week, the Packers have made another trade. Third-year Ka’dar Hollman is the latest cornerback to leave Green Bay.

According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Packers are trading Hollman to the Houston Texans.

While we don’t yet know what the Packers will receive in return, this is a smart move by general manager Brian Gutekunst. It didn’t seem likely that Hollman would make Green Bay’s initial 53-man roster, so instead of cutting him at some point in the next couple of weeks, the team has been able to work out a trade.

In all likelihood, the compensation will likely be a late-round draft pick, possibly a conditional pick. Still, it makes sense for Green Bay as it’s a better option than cutting him.

Hollman was a sixth-round pick two years ago but has been unable to land a significant role on defense. According to Pro Football Reference, Hollman played on just 11 percent of the team’s defensive snaps last season, along with 38 percent of the special-teams snaps.

What does this mean for Packers’ cornerback depth chart?

Jaire Alexander will start on the outside opposite either Kevin King or Eric Stokes. Chandon Sullivan and Shemar Jean-Charles are both options in the slot. Kabion Ento has been impressive this summer and looks to have a good chance of making the 53-man roster.

That doesn’t leave much room left on the roster at the cornerback position. Ento is competing with Yiadom for the sixth spot, although it’s also possible Green Bay will keep seven corners.

With Hollman no longer on the roster, there are only seven cornerbacks remaining. Maybe all of them will make the roster.
