Power ranking Packers positional groups ahead of Week 1.
When looking across the Green Bay Packers‘ roster, there aren’t too many weaknesses. This is a team rich in talent, especially at key positions, and ready to compete for another championship in 2021.
Where are the Packers strongest and have the most depth?
Just days away from the team’s season opener, here are my positional power rankings for the Packers in 2021.
9. Inside linebacker
Starters: De’Vondre Campbell, Krys Barnes
Backups: Oren Burks, Ty Summers, Isaiah McDuffie
This is an area Green Bay has improved this offseason. Kamal Martin was a surprise cut, but he had struggled throughout the summer.
The Packers have brought in experienced starter De’Vondre Campbell, who can be a great addition to this defense. He’ll be joined by second-year Krys Barnes in the base defense, giving the Packers a solid starting duo.
Oren Burks and Ty Summers are both important special-teams players, while Burks was impressive on defense during the preseason. Rookie Isaiah McDuffie was a standout performer in the preseason and gave the team little choice but to keep him on the 53-man roster.
Green Bay has added talent to the position, but there are still questions in the middle of the defense. They also lack a star player at linebacker.
