Three free agents the Packers should consider signing entering Week 3.

The Green Bay Packers bounced back in impressive style, defeating the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.

It was an important victory for the Packers, and they were particularly impressive in the second half of the game. Despite that, it’s clear there’s still a lot of work to do, and areas they need to improve moving forward.

The Packers have limited salary-cap space, but there are some free agents still available who could help the defense improve.

Packers should consider signing Benardrick McKinney

Inside linebacker remains a concern for Green Bay’s defense.

The good news is that De’Vondre Campbell put in a performance the Packers hoped to see when they signed him in the summer. He led the team in tackles with 13, while also making a pass defense and interception. Campbell is clearly the best linebacker on the team, but that doesn’t mean Green Bay shouldn’t be open to getting him some more help in the middle of the field.

One potential option is Benardrick McKinney, a former second-round pick. The Miami Dolphins traded for McKinney earlier this year before surprisingly cutting him in the summer.

During training camp, Kyle Crabbs of Dolphins Wire had high praise for McKinney, writing that “no one shined quite like Benardrick McKinney” during the team’s first practice in pads.

It was a big surprise when the Dolphins moved on from McKinney, but that doesn’t mean he can’t contribute elsewhere. He’s a former Pro Bowler and would add some experience at linebacker next to Campbell.
