Green Bay Packers: 5 facts about new CB Quinton Dunbar
By Cody Young
The Green Bay Packers have had a busy week in terms of player acquisitions.
The team picked up two players recently, Jaylon Smith and Rasul Douglas.
The Packers added another player into the mix earlier this week, veteran CB Quinton Dunbar. So let’s get to know the new CB a little bit more, for those who don’t know him.
Fact #1: Off-the-field concerns
Let’s not beat around the bush and look at this one right away. In May 2020, an arrest warrant was issued for Dunbar as well as others, for four counts of armed robbery. Charges would eventually be dropped against Dunbar. The Packers don’t really bring in guys with the off-the-field issues, so this was an interesting signing.
Fact #2: UDFA
Quinton Dunbar went undrafted in the 2015 draft, before signing a three-year deal with Washington. He remained in Washington until getting traded to the Seahawks in 2020. Despite being an UDFA, he carved out a nice career for himself as a CB in Washington.
Fact #3: Former WR
Dunbar was a four-year player during his college days at the University of Florida. During his stay there he was actually a WR for all four years. He didn’t receive too much playing time during his college years, never going over 550 receiving yards. After being picked up by the Washington Football Team, they decided to turn him into a CB where he had some quality years.
Fact #4: Coming off an injury
Dunbar was only able to appear in six games for the Seahawks last year, before suffering a knee injury that placed him on IR. Dunbar could’ve returned in December but a knee surgery stopped that from happening.
Fact #5: Most experienced CB on the roster
While he may be the newest addition to this Green Bay Packers roster, he brings the most experience to a CB room that is lacking in that department. Coming into the NFL after the 2015 NFL Draft, Dunbar is 29 years old, easily making him the oldest CB on the roster.
The next oldest CBs on the roster are Kevin King and Rasul Douglas, both of whom are 26. Dunbar has had his ups and downs over his career but he is someone that should be able to step in and produce when called upon.
