Packers: 3 dream trade targets before deadline to help Super Bowl push
Odell Beckham, WR
Do the Packers need to trade for Odell Beckham Jr. before the deadline? No. Will they do it? Absolutely not.
But would it be a ton of fun? You bet.
Beckham recently returned from a torn ACL but hasn’t made a consistent impact in the Cleveland Browns’ offense. Part of that is due to the Browns’ commitment to the ground game. According to Team Rankings, Cleveland only passes the ball 50 percent of the time, third-lowest in the NFL. The Browns’ offense is built on running the football.
With Davante Adams regularly getting double-teamed, adding a game-changer like OBJ to this offense would be simply unfair on defenses. Beckham can still be a difference-maker, especially in the Packers’ pass-first offense.
OBJ is only a couple of years removed from his last 1,000-yard year. He hit that milestone four times in his first five seasons.
Even if he’s no longer the superstar wide receiver he once was, Beckham still has the talent to be a difference-maker. Put him in the Packers’ offense, and defenses would have yet another major problem.
For salary-cap reasons, there’s little to no chance it actually happens but it sure would be fun watching OBJ and Adams lined up together in the Packers’ offense.
