Packers: Top 10 highest Pro Football Focus grades through Week 7
The Green Bay Packers are rolling. Following a sixth straight win in Week 7 against Washington, the team is on a high despite multiple injury concerns looming like a dark cloud.
Although the stats aren’t as flashy as in previous years, the Packers aren’t statistically bad at really anything aside from red-zone defense. When it comes to Pro Football Focus grades, the Pack have some of the top graded players in the entire NFL.
Today we’ll be running through those exact grades, providing you with a list of the top-five graded players on both the Packers offense and defense through the first seven weeks of the year.
Special shout-out to P Corey Bojorquez, who has a current punting grade of 78.6 – which is second in the league. Bojo Blast forever. The Packers made an excellent move grabbing Bojorquez in the offseason.
Top five offensive players according to Pro Football Focus
5. T Elgton Jenkins (11th-ranked tackle)
Snaps: 237
Overall Grade: 76.6
Skylar’s Thoughts: Before the injury, Jenkins was playing good. I’m gonna agree with PFF on this one, but I think it will increase once he gets back to the guard position.
4. TE Mercedes Lewis (8th-ranked tight end)
Snaps: 201
Overall Grade: 78.5
Stats: 9 catches, 108 Yards, 0 TDs
Skylar’s Thoughts: Again, fair. Lewis sees limited snaps but for what he does see, he’s very polished in all aspects of his game.
3. RB Aaron Jones (6th-ranked running back)
Snaps: 284
Overall Grade: 81.1
Stats: 89 carries, 404 Yards, 2 rushing TDs, 26 catches, 186 yards, 4 receiving TDs.
Skylar’s Thoughts: I’d actually grade Jones maybe slightly lower around the 77 mark. I think Jones has been unimpressive in the running game, but has made up for it with his involvement in the pass-catching game.
2. QB Aaron Rodgers (14th-ranked quarterback)
Snaps: 418
Overall Grade: 81.7
Stats: 151/221 passes complete, 1710 yards, 15 passing TDs, 2 rushing TDs.
Skylar’s Thoughts: I’d actually grade Rodgers a bit higher here, maybe around the 84/85 mark. I definitely don’t think he’s the 14th-ranked QB this year either.
1. WR Davante Adams (1st-ranked wide receiver)
Snaps: 372
Overall Grade: 92.2
Stats: 52 catches, 744 yards, 3 TDs.
Skylar’s Thoughts: Perfect grade. Adams is playing at an all-time level, per usual.
Top five defensive players according to Pro Football Focus
5. S Adrian Amos (9th-ranked safety)
Snaps: 447
Overall Grade: 73.4
Stats: 47 combined tackles, 1 INT, 3 passes defended
Skylar’s Thoughts: This grade is largely made up by Amos’ rush defense, as I think he’s been a very mixed bag on the coverage end of things.
4. CB Jaire Alexander (16th-ranked cornerback)
Snaps: 219
Overall Grade: 75.1
Stats: 13 combined tackles, 1 INT, 3 passes defended
Skylar’s Thoughts: Fair grade here. When healthy, Jaire wasn’t playing at the level that we had seen in 2019/2020.
3. DT Kenny Clark (7th-ranked defensive tackle)
Snaps: 365
Overall Grade: 80.9
Stats: 26 combined tackles, 6 QB hits, 3.0 sacks, 1 fumble recovery
Skylar’s Thoughts: From watching the tape, I think Clark deserves a grade around the 87/88 mark. He’s very polished, doesn’t make many mistakes, and always seems to penetrate the LOS.
2. Edge Rashan Gary (13th-ranked edge)
Snaps: 317
Overall Grade: 83.6
Stats: 25 combined tackles, 15 QB hits, 3.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble
Skylar’s Thoughts: Perfect grade for Gary here. 0 missed tackles, 18 pressures, 3.5 sacks. He’s playing out of his mind.
1. LB De’Vondre Campbell (1st-ranked linebacker)
Snaps: 435
Overall Grade: 89.2
Stats: 68 combined tackles, 3 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, 2 INTs
Skylar’s Thoughts: Again, perfect grade. No disagreements at all. Campbell has been outstanding.
