It. Is. Time.

If Jordan Love is going to be the Green Bay Packers‘ starting quarterback in the not-too-distant future, he has a huge opportunity to show why he’s the man this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out after testing positive for COVID-19, which means Love gets his first career start versus the Chiefs on Sunday.

Huge opportunity for Jordan Love vs. Chiefs

Love has been the backup this season but has only needed to throw a pass in the season opener against the New Orleans Saints. He entered the game in the fourth quarter with the backups, completing five of seven passes for 68 yards.

In the preseason, Love completed 24 of 35 passes for 271 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

When the Packers traded up Love in the first round a year ago, they made a commitment to their long-term future. They believe he can eventually replace Aaron Rodgers.

Consider this a huge opportunity for the QB out of Utah State.

Up against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Packers will be expected to lose. No matter how shaky the Chiefs have looked this season, this is a game they will expect to win. For Love, it’s an opportunity to gain valuable NFL experience.

And what if he plays well? What if Love leads the Packers’ offense to victory?

It would do a lot for his confidence and put a strong case forward why the Packers were right to draft him as their future starter.

Love gets to go up against a Kansas City defense allowing the fourth-most yards per game. He could also have Davante Adams back.

Without Aaron Rodgers, few will give the Packers a shot. For Love, it’s like a free play. He gains valuable experience regardless of what happens, but it’s also a huge opportunity to prove himself.
