Could Odell Beckham Jr. to the Packers really happen?

The Green Bay Packers have made some great free-agent additions in recent months including De’Vondre Campbell and Rasul Douglas. Both players have become instant difference-makers on defense.

Is it time the Packers make a game-changing addition on offense?

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Odell Beckham Jr. has “prioritized the Packers as his No. 1 destination”.

For that to happen, he first needed to clear waivers.

Well, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, that’s exactly what happened on Tuesday. Beckham is officially a free agent and able to sign anywhere.

Should the Packers have interest? As long as they have the salary cap room to work out a deal, why not?

Things didn’t work out for Beckham with the Cleveland Browns but that doesn’t mean he’s become a bad player. Far from it. OBJ has shown more than enough signs that he is still an excellent wide receiver.

In Matt LaFleur’s offense catching passes from Aaron Rodgers, there would be the potential for OBJ to get back to his best. We’re talking about a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, and he’s only 29 years old.

The Packers already have one of the league’s best offenses. Davante Adams is a top-two wide receiver in the NFL, and he ain’t two. Now add Odell Beckham Jr. to the mix, along with Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Randall Cobb.

Oh, and we haven’t even mentioned the running back duo of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, as well as All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari set to make his return from injury soon.

Put Beckham in this offense and the Packers become an even stronger team. No longer can defenses simply focus on taking away Adams (not that this approach works often anyway), they’d now have another former Pro Bowler to worry about.

Do you think the Packers should sign OBJ?
