Week 16: Cleveland Browns (Christmas Day)

Back in the spring, I ranked this as the second-toughest game on the Packers’ 2021 schedule. Still a tough game, no doubt, but it’s likely not as daunting as it once looked.

Part of that is due to the Packers’ play on defense. They match up with the Cleveland Browns far better than in recent years as Green Bay’s defense ranks No. 12 against the run, which will be important against a run-first Cleveland offense.

The Browns’ rushing attack leads the NFL, but they are just No. 25 in passing offense. If the Packers can get out to an early lead, they will force the Browns to get away from their biggest strength. In the opening 10 games of the season, Baker Mayfield has just 10 touchdown passes with six interceptions.

The atmosphere will be electric at Lambeau Field on Christmas Day. It should be a good game between two teams with big ambitions in the postseason.

The Packers are at home and they are also the better team. I also like how they match up with the Browns. If Green Bay commits to stopping the run and gets out to an early lead, it should be able to control the game. A big win on Christmas Day.

Prediction: Green Bay 27, Cleveland 21 (11-4)
