Predicting four Packers free agents who won’t be re-signed in 2022.

Get used to the type of salary cap work the Green Bay Packers had to pull off this past offseason. The following spring is going to be just as tough for Brian Gutekunst and Russ Ball as they attempt to keep the Packers competitive while also getting under the salary cap.

With a number of key players set to become free agents in the spring, it’s going to be a challenging offseason for the Packers’ front office as they try to create space space and re-sign who they can. And we won’t even get into Aaron Rodgers’ future with the team.

Here’s an early look at four free agents who could be in their final season with the Packers.

Lucas Patrick

Lucas Patrick is proving why he’s so valuable to the Packers this season, stepping in at center to replace an injured Josh Myers.

Patrick has spent most of his time in Green Bay playing at guard, so his versatility to make the switch to center has been so important with the team’s second-round pick out due to injury.

However, there’s a real possibility Patrick will be playing elsewhere next season. He’s potentially playing his way into a bigger contract in the offseason. He’s showing why he can be a starter at center, and last season he started 15 games at guard.

With the trio of Jon Runyan, Myers, and Royce Newman at the interior spots, the Packers have their starters set. Patrick will likely get the opportunity to start elsewhere, which is not a guarantee in Green Bay.
