Five things the Packers must address in their Week 13 bye.

The bye week comes at a good time for the Green Bay Packers. They desperately needed a week off given the huge number of injuries they are dealing with, not to mention the fact they have played 12 games in a row.

Should the end of the season go well for the Packers, they will secure a first-round bye in the playoffs which would mean only playing another five games in a row before getting more time off. They’d then need to win two playoff games before another bye and the Super Bowl.

But for that to happen, there are areas they must improve during their bye week. Let’s look at the top five.

Run the ball more often

The Packers have a very good rushing offense, we just don’t see enough of it.

With Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, Green Bay’s 1-2 punch is as good as any in the league. Both Jones and Dillon average exactly 4.2 yards per carry and have a combined 1,107 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.

But far too often, the Packers get away from the ground game. They are averaging 26.17 rushing attempts per game, which is good for 16th in the league, but with the talent they’ve got, it should be higher than this.

The offensive line is also doing its job. According to ESPN, the Packers’ run block win rate is 72 percent, good for seventh in the NFL.

When the Packers have been committed to the run, it’s worked well for them. It allows them to dominate time of possession, wear down defenses, and open up the play-action game.

We need to see more of it after the bye week.
