Round 3 (94): Zion Nelson, OT, Miami

Still no wide receiver here, and the Packers could need one based on how many players they could lose at the position in free agency. But I do have Brian Gutekunst getting some more help on offense.

You can never have enough talented tackles. As we’re seeing this year, injuries happen along the offensive line.

David Bakhtiari will turn 31 early next season. While he could easily get back to his All-Pro best, that’s no guarantee coming off an injury that has sidelined him since the end of 2020. Elgton Jenkins could also miss the start of the 2022 season as he recovers from a torn ACL.

Miami’s Zion Nelson is a talented player and could quickly become a starter in the NFL, even if he doesn’t need to immediately in Green Bay.

When fully healthy, the Packers could move Jenkins and Billy Turner back to guard, should they wish. But if they take the longer-term view, Turner will be entering the final year of his contract in 2022. The Packers could draft his eventual replacement next spring.

In the third round, the Packers would be getting a possible future starter at tackle and a player they can develop for the role over a season or two.
