The Packers have placed Jordan Love on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Green Bay Packers have placed backup quarterback Jordan Love on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

According to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, as Love has said he’s vaccinated, it means he has tested positive for COVID-19.

This, of course, puts his status for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears in doubt. Love would need consecutive negative tests to be able to be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

What does this mean for this week’s practice?

Aaron Rodgers hasn’t practiced much in recent weeks due to a toe injury. If he’s not back out there on the practice field this week, third-string QB Kurt Benkert would likely get the first-team reps. Maybe the Packers would consider bringing back veteran Blake Bortles again to help out on the practice field.

Hopefully Love makes a quick recovery and doesn’t need to miss much time.

Love has been the backup behind Rodgers all season. He filled in briefly in the fourth quarter of the loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, before starting his first NFL game in Week 9 in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In that game, Love went 19/34 for 190 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

If Love is out this week against the Bears, Benkert would be the backup QB behind Rodgers. That’s assuming they don’t re-sign Bortles and promote him to the backup role due to his experience.

More importantly, we wish Love a speedy recovery and hope he’s able to return very soon.
