Aaron Rodgers didn’t show any signs of being limited by his toe injury as he threw four touchdowns in the Green Bay Packers‘ victory over the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers has been playing through the toe injury for a number of weeks, and the hope was the bye would give him extra time to recover.

However, Rodgers believes he suffered a ‘setback’ in the Sunday night game.

“It feels worse,” Rodgers said postgame. “I don’t know what kind of setback I had tonight but we’ll look at it tomorrow. Definitely took a step back tonight.”

Well, that’s far from ideal.

The Packers are coming off their bye, which gave Rodgers an additional week of recovery. He then didn’t practice until Friday. To suffer a setback in the game means he’ll have to continue to play through the injury unless the plan is to miss some time, which he has repeatedly said he has no intention of doing.

The good news is that Rodgers didn’t look like a player dealing with a toe injury as he threw all over the Bears’ defense and put up four touchdowns. He has the toughness to play through injuries as he’s shown throughout his career, and this was another example of that.

Hopefully Rodgers’ injury didn’t get any worse or is at risk of costing him any time, but we’ll have to see. At what stage would the Packers decide to give Rodgers some time off? With playoffs almost guaranteed, would it be the sensible option to ensure Rodgers is close to 100 percent in time for the playoffs?

Up next for the Packers is a road game against the Baltimore Ravens, before hosting the Cleveland Browns on Christmas Day. Two tough games.

Hopefully Rodgers will be able to continue to play through the injury and help guide the Packers to victories in both.
