Mason Crosby

Mason Crosby has put together an incredible career as the Packers’ highest ever points scorer. All good things must come to an end, however, and the same could be true for Crosby in the offseason. A strong finish to the year could change that.

It’s been a tough year for Crosby. He wasn’t helped by some poor blocking on field goals early in the season, but even since then he’s made far more mistakes than we’re used to seeing.

Crosby has missed nine field goals and one extra-point try this season. His field-goal conversion of 67.9 percent is only slightly better than his career-worst in 2012. That’s a concern.

The Packers have a kicker they like on the practice squad in J.J. Molson. They’ve protected him on the practice squad throughout the season to ensure other teams can’t sign him. That says a lot. Could the Packers make a transition at kicker in the offseason?

Crosby can have a say on that. He’s bounced back from tough situations in his career before so we shouldn’t count him out. He’s just as likely to go on a run of no missed kicks and come up with a game-winner in the playoffs. It might take that for the Packers’ all-time great to remain the kicker in 2022.
