Packers Game Sunday: Packers vs. Lions odds and prediction for NFL Week 18 game
The Green Bay Packers are in an unusual situation this week.
They visit the division-rival Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon but have nothing to play for. They’ve already secured the NFC’s top seed regardless of whether they win, lose, or tie on Sunday afternoon.
For head coach Matt LaFleur, it’s a question of is two weeks off too much for his players? Is the risk of injury too great to have key players feature on Sunday? In time we’ll find out, but for now, it makes predicting the game quite difficult.
Packers vs. Lions Odds Week 18
The Packers are 2.5-point favorites, according to WynnBET’s odds. We can assume that had Green Bay still had something to play for and intended to play its starters, the team would be strong favorites.
For now, though, it’s unclear whether we’ll see the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams and, if so, for how long.
The over/under is set at 42.5 points. Green Bay is -140 on the money line, Detroit +115.
Packers vs. Lions Prediction Week 18
Like everyone else, I find this game incredibly tough to predict.
Matt LaFleur hasn’t confirmed whether he’ll have his starters out there on Sunday, but it sure seems like he’s leaning towards Rodgers and Co. at least playing some part. Maybe it’ll look more like a preseason game.
In that case, a potential Jordan Love vs. Tim Boyle battle may have to wait until later in the game, but we could eventually see it.
If the starters are in the game for a long period of time, Green Bay should be the winners of this one. But assuming it’s mostly the backups playing, I’m going with the home team to pick up a close victory. The Lions will want to finish a tough season on a strong note, and against a Packers team with nothing to play for, they get their victory.
Prediction: Lions 24-21
