Packers: Aaron Rodgers snubbed from PFF All-Pro Team 2021
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers might be one of the frontrunners for this year’s NFL MVP award, but he wasn’t part of Pro Football Focus’ All-Pro Team for the 2021 season.
Tom Brady was the choice as PFF’s first-team All-Pro at the quarterback this season, with Joe Burrow making the second team.
There’s no doubt Burrow has had a fantastic second season in the NFL, but it’s a little surprising he was the pick ahead of Rodgers, who very well could be named MVP for the fourth time in the coming weeks.
The Packers did have two PFF All-Pro selections — wide receiver Davante Adams and inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell were part of the first team. Well deserved.
Comparing the three quarterbacks in 2021 regular season
- Tom Brady: 485/719 (67.5%), 5,316 yards, 43 TDs, 12 INTs, 102.1 rating
- Joe Burrow: 366/520 (70.4%), 4,611 yards, 34 TDs, 14 INTs, 108.3 rating
- Aaron Rodgers: 366/531 (68.9%), 4,115 yards, 37 TDs, 4 INTs, 111.9 rating
You could make a case Rodgers should’ve been PFF’s first-team All-Pro ahead of both players.
While he had fewer passing yards than both, he ranks second among the three in completion percentage, second in passing TDs, and is miles better in interceptions. Rodgers also has the best passer rating.
Rodgers had three more touchdowns than Burrow with 10 fewer interceptions. He had six fewer touchdowns than Brady but just a third of the picks Brady has thrown.
There’s zero doubt that Burrow is a star and is coming off a fantastic second season. He was particularly impressive in the final two weeks, throwing for a combined 971 yards and eight touchdowns without an interception.
But the All-Pro teams shouldn’t be determined by the final two weeks. In the month of September, Burrow threw as many interceptions as Rodgers did all season.
Who do you think should be the first-team and second-team All-Pros at quarterback this season? Should Aaron Rodgers be an All-Pro? And should he win MVP?
