Wild Card Round

Eagles (7) at Buccaneers (2)

The Buccaneers were six-point winners against the Eagles earlier in the season, but Philadelphia has improved since, going 7-4 after that loss. However, only one of those victories came against a team with a winning record.

While the Eagles did almost come from behind against the Bucs earlier in the year, that game was at home. They must now travel on the road. It’s hard to bet against Tom Brady in the playoffs. He saves his best football for January and February.

Winner: Buccaneers

49ers (6) at Cowboys (3)

Potentially the game of the week, this is a tough one to call. The Cowboys will be favorites at home. If their offense gets going, good luck stopping them. But the 49ers are on fire having won seven of their past nine games. Their defense is playing well and they have a strong rushing attack.

This will be a close game. I’m going with the Cowboys on a walk-off field goal. Mike McCarthy’s return to the playoffs gets off to a good start.

Winner: Cowboys

Cardinals (5) at Rams (4)

This could be another great game. Two teams that look like Super Bowl contenders on their day, but have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball. The Cardinals have struggled over the past couple of months, losing four of their past five. Not good momentum to take into the postseason. Their one victory in that time was an impressive one at Dallas, so they’ve shown they can do it.

The Rams had won five straight before a Week 18 loss to the 49ers. At home, I’m going with Sean McVay’s team, setting up a rematch with the Packers.

Winner: Rams
