Here we go again. Not for the first time, the Green Bay Packers must overcome the San Francisco 49ers in the postseason. They’ve failed on their previous three attempts, but they get the Niners at home and the visitors enter Lambeau Field on a short week.
As ever, high expectations are to be expected for the Packers. They were dominant in the regular season, wrapping up the NFC’s top seed with a game remaining. Matt LaFleur’s team didn’t require the additional regular-season game. But none of that will matter if they can’t convert home-field advantage into their first Super Bowl appearance in over a decade.
The Packers defeated the 49ers with a last-second Mason Crosby field goal earlier in the season, but San Francisco has improved since then. Kyle Shanahan’s team has saved its best football for late in the year, which will make them tough opponents in the divisional round.
So, what is it going to take for LaFleur’s team to get some playoff revenge on the 49ers and advance to the NFC Championship Game for the third straight season?
