The 49ers could be without two star players versus the Packers this week.

Ahead of their first playoff game, the Green Bay Packers are getting healthier.

The same isn’t true for their opponents on Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers, who could be without key defensive players Nick Bosa and Fred Warner this week.

Bosa, a two-time Pro Bowler who made 15.5 sacks in the regular season, exited the 49ers’ playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys due to a concussion. According to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, Bosa is in the concussion protocol.

That leaves his status for the divisional round up in the air. There’s no set time for how long it takes to recover from a concussion. Some players are able to play the next week, others need longer. The fact there’s only a six-day gap between the games doesn’t help Bosa.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Warner ‘suffered a re-aggravation of an ankle injury’ from earlier in the season.

Warner tweeted that he will be ‘good to go’. But even if he does play, it doesn’t mean he’ll be at 100 percent. It won’t be surprising if he tries to play even if he’s not fully healthy, given the importance of the game.

We’ll find out more when the 49ers’ first injury report is released on Tuesday.

If Warner is either unable to play or limited, it could have a huge impact on the game. Warner, a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2020, is one of the best linebackers in football. This season, he has 137 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four pass defenses, and a forced fumble.

Bosa and Warner are two of the best at their respective positions in the league. If they are both active on Saturday night, it will make life that much tougher for the Packers’ offense.
