The Packers have activated Lucas Patrick from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Green Bay Packers should be much closer to full strength along the offensive line in the divisional round versus the San Francisco 49ers.

Not only did the Packers get starters David Bakhtiari and Josh Myers back from injury before their first-round bye, but Lucas Patrick is now set to return.

The Packers have activated Patrick from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Patrick has filled in at center for much of the season while Myers was out. But with the rookie center back from injury, Patrick could slide back to right guard ahead of Royce Newman.

When the starters were out there in Week 18 versus the Detroit Lions, Patrick started at right guard. Don’t be surprised if Matt LaFleur does the same this week.

Newman has had an up-and-down rookie season. He’s done a lot well, but he’s also made a number of mistakes. That’s to be expected for a player in their first season. Up against a talented 49ers defensive line, having the experience of Patrick next to Myers could be important.

And Patrick has played well this season. According to ESPN, Patrick is tied for second in run block win rate among all centers in 2021.

This was the Packers’ starting offensive line in their victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17: LT Yosh Nijman, LG Jon Runyan, C Lucas Patrick, RG Royce Newman, RT Dennis Kelly.

If all goes well, this could be the starting five for Saturday night: LT David Bakhtiari, LG Jon Runyan, C Josh Myers, RG Lucas Patrick, RT Billy Turner.

It would still be a big challenge versus the 49ers’ defensive line. Bakhtiari and Myers would be in their first full game back from injury, while Turner would also be returning after about a month. If Turner is unable to go, Kelly will likely continue at right tackle.
